Hello! My name is David Dockan, and this is my ePortfolio. On this website you will find pictures, videos, and more artifacts from my music education career. Officially beginning at West Virginia University where I participated in many ensembles, activities and organizations.
Performance experience includes playing trumpet in Marching Band, Wind Symphony and Orchestra, I also participated in many ensembles not performing on my primary instrument such as Mountaineer Chorale, Steel Pan, African Drum and Dance Ensemble, and the Brazilian Ensemble. After college I continued playing trumpet in community bands and orchestras. I graduated from West Virginia University Manga Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education in May 2016. From 2016 - 2018 I taught elementary music and choir at North Elementary in Prince George County, VA. Starting in 2018, I became the Choir Director / Music Teacher at JEJ Moore Middle School in Prince George, VA. While teaching I completed my training in Orff Schulwerk at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY (July 2019) and my Masters of Music in Music Education at Kent State University (August 2019). In August of 2021, I began my PhD Journey at the University of Kentucky. At the university, I teach MUS 266, supervise student teachers, and help run the community music group, New Horizons. Recent accomplishments include turning my Master's Thesis equivalent project into a Research Article for The Orff Echo (Summer 2020). |
